Job Description:
Humanhome is seeking a Design Apprentice to support our creative team in day-to-day operations and project execution. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to work alongside lead designers and gain firsthand experience in the dynamic environment of a design and manufacturing studio.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about design and craftsmanship. This position is best suited for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is eager to develop a deeper understanding of the design and manufacturing process.
Responsibilities:
- Assist lead designers by preparing tear sheets, orthographics, mood boards, and material samples for internal and external presentations.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of project timelines, material sourcing, communications, and production schedules.
- When needed, support the team in manufacturing processes through hands-on tasks such as basic fabrication, assembly, finishing, and packaging.
- Contribute to photo documentation of prototypes, production processes, and finished pieces.
- Participate in research tasks, sourcing materials and vendors when needed.
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years experience working in a design studio, fabrication studio, or a related creative environment.
- Portfolio submission required, highlighting Graphic Design and/or Photography work.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Familiarity or interest in graphic design, visual storytelling, or brand development.
- Basic knowledge of photography (studio setup, editing) preferred.
- Experience with CAD programs (Fusion 360, Rhino, Solidworks) is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple deadlines at once.
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license. Occasional local travel (e.g., material pickups) required. Also, able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Schedule:
Part-time, with flexible hours tailored to studio needs. Potential for a full-time role based on performance and studio requirements.
Compensation & Benefits:
